I tutored elementary school children every week. Through this experience, I was able to reinforce academic skills by assisting students with their homework and curating unique lesson plans, allowing the children to thrive in an interactive learning environment.

My time as a tutor at Oasis was one of the most rewarding parts of my college experience. Each week, I worked with elementary school students, helping them strengthen their academic skills through personalized support and interactive lesson plans tailored to their needs.

This experience taught me the value of patience, consistency, and creativity in building trust and promoting learning. It also deepened my understanding of social and educational barriers that children may face as well as the role that community based support systems can play in helping them succeed. Supporting these students went beyond helping with homework. It was about creating a safe, encouraging space where they could feel confident and capable. It reminded me of why I am passionate about public health: helping people thrive starts with meeting them where they are, especially within underserved communities.
